Live Illustrating at Villa Balbiano, Lake Como 

Yesterday, I had the joy of live illustrating Gabriella and Ahmad’s wedding at the stunning Villa Balbiano on Lake Como.

It was a beautifully intimate black tie celebration, with just 13 guests, each one of whom I had the pleasure of sketching throughout the day.

The setting couldn't have been more picturesque. The villa, with its dramatic views and historic charm, offered the perfect backdrop for a heartfelt ceremony.

As Gabriella and Ahmad exchanged vows overlooking the lake, I began creating an illustrated scene that captured the atmosphere of that quiet, meaningful moment.

Live sketching at weddings always feels personal, but this one was especially so. With such a small group, I got to connect briefly with each guest while capturing their likenesses.
The reactions were lovely, there’s something about seeing yourself illustrated in real time that brings a bit of magic to the occasion.

At the end of the evening, I presented Gabriella and Ahmad with their illustrated ceremony scene and portraits of their guests to take home in a display box.

 They were very appreciative and loved their artwork. 

This wedding reminded me why I love what I do. It’s not just about sketching , it’s about preserving moments, emotions, and connections in a way that feels both personal and timeless
